Being in business is about so much more

Being in business is about so much more

We love talking to members about what they do, why they love North Tyneside as a place to do business. We’ve been chatting to Mary Mooney of Star PA Services

Tell us a little bit more about your business

I work with individuals and organisations requiring administrative assistance on a cost-effective basis.

There are two common scenarios which often occur for many of my clients – either they find themselves simply overwhelmed by the sheer volume of administrative tasks they need to do or that their individual skill set doesn’t match the administrative requirements they have – as a result both their time and focus gets diverted and they feel stressed, frustrated and unproductive because they are unable to achieve their goals.

Through discussion at an initial free one hour consultation meeting, we work together to identify key specific areas where help is needed and then map out an action plan which will get them back on track with confidence, knowing that they can have access to outstanding administrative assistance when they need it most.

I have over 30 years of experience as an Executive Assistant / Senior PA / Business Coordinator gained from working within a wide variety of types and sizes of organisations in both London and Newcastle.

I offer a variety of services including :-

• Minute Taking / Write Up for Board and Committee meetings
• Project / Event management and coordination
• Preparation of documents and presentations
• Proof reading
• General EA/PA administrative support

What is your motivation for doing what you do?

The motivation to set up my own business came from a desire to create opportunities which would enable me to share my extensive experience in order to help as many people as possible.

What are your plans for the business?

As Star PA Services is still in its initial start-up phase, my primary focus at this time is on developing a sustainable client base and building strong working relationships with all my clients.

In the longer term, I would like to be able to expand the business and employ a team of like-minded staff in order to extend the range and reach of services to clients.

How has North Tyneside Business Forum helped your business? And what’s your favourite thing about doing business in North Tyneside?

As a new member of the Forum, I am seeking assistance to advertise and promote Star PA Services to other Forum members in the North Tyneside area.

My favourite thing about doing business in North Tyneside is the people in this area – everyone is so friendly, open and welcoming. There is so much amazing creativity and talent here, which is reflected in the diversity of activities undertaken by individuals and organisations – I’m not from the North East originally, but having the opportunity to live here is just fantastic and it’s definitely a region I’m proud to be part of!

One thing that makes your business different from the rest

For me, being in business is about so much more than just making money – having an opportunity to help people use their unique skills and talents to achieve their dreams with a big smile at the end of the day is what matters most to me.
