Explore. Dream. Discover.

We love talking to members about what they do, why they love North Tyneside as a place to do business. We’ve been chatting to Fay Robertson, who runs Trade Winds Tarot.

Fay, tell us a little bit more about your business

Trade Winds Tarot was inspired by the Mark Twain quote “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

I work as a one woman show and aim to help people find their own superpowers and use them as their own persona trade winds to navigate life. I’m also a channelled energy healer, working with people on an energetic level to help them recover their own innate ability to heal and grow in order that they can really begin to live life to the fullest.

What is your motivation for doing what you do?

I do a happy dance every time someone realises that they CAN. They CAN do that thing they’ve always wanted to, they CAN take charge of their own life, they CAN love themselves, they CAN take time for themselves, they CAN dare to be.

I was in a regular job with the demands of family, work, home, partner and pets. Hell, I even forgot which foods I liked to eat, books I liked to read and TV programmes I liked to watch. As a mental health nurse and mum of three I kind of got lost. It took a nervous breakdown and the subsequent fallout from that to make me re-evaluate and decide to take my own life in hand and do what I wanted to do rather than what I, my peers, family and partner thought I SHOULD do (known in the Tarot trade as a Tower moment). Such drastic upheaval isn’t necessary when people embrace and work with their own superpowers. That motivates me. It motivates me a lot.

What are your plans for the business?

I’m moving away from Tarot. From early June, I won’t be advertising Tarot any longer and will be concentrating on what I really feel is what I need to do. For myself and for others, and that’s healing. Energy healing using two or three different modalities. It’s gentle and simple but heavens above it’s powerful particularly when used regularly to keep body, mind and soul together.

So I won’t be advertising readings any longer, but I have regulars and quite a few word of mouth referrals for Tarot consultations so that will still exist too.

What is your favourite thing about doing business in North Tyneside?

North Tyneside is an awesome place. I’ve been here about five years now (I moved from Hexham). The people are brilliant and vibrant and interesting, and that makes for fruitful Tarot consultations. There’s a curiosity here. People aren’t afraid to ask about weird stuff such as Tarot and energy healing, and give it a shot if their interest is piqued.

You’ve recently joined the Forum, how have you found it so far?

I’ve only just discovered the North Tyneside Business Forum in the last few weeks. About the same time that I realised that no business is an island. We’re all part of a matrix that depends on each and every one of its’ nodes for energy. I have high hopes that there’ll be sparks of interest, collaboration and support from being a part of the Forum.

What is that one thing that makes your business different from the rest?

Me.

I’m a middle aged woman with the heart of a lion, and I want others to find their power through following their heart. You won’t find me telling fortunes. You’ll find me and the people I work with filled with awe and wonder at the beauty, potential and strength within us all.

You can call me Catalyst if you want to 😉
