Keep positive and move forward

We love talking to our members about what they do and how they’ve overcome challenges in business. Plus, we also like to find out why they love North Tyneside as a place to do business. We’ve been chatting to MBS Gardens.

Tell us a little more about the business

We are a North Tyneside based landscaping company. We offer all types of hard and soft landscaping for both residential and commercial clients.

What challenges has the business overcome to become covid-secure?

We have continued to operate in some form or another during the Covid-19 crisis and have made many changes.

Some of our key developments have included remote estimates, making more use of remote technology for paperwork and site surveys and training on awareness and prevention of Covid-19 for our team – it’s been a busy time and most certainly different but we have all adapted and we are thrilled to have been able to keep positive and move forward.

How has the business adapted the operation / workplace?

On site, we have ensured that contact with clients and suppliers has been managed via non-contact means or following the social distancing guidelines. We have sourced PPE and have made sure everyone understands the risks and how to remove or minimise them safely. We’ve written a risk assessment and shared it will the team and it’s also available for our clients if they’d like to see how we are making sure everyone is safe

How has North Tyneside Business Forum helped your business?

The Business Forum have supported us by:

  • making information and financial support readily available to us
  • allowing us to connect with other local businesses and share some great ideas on how to navigate these unprecedented ties
  • giving us the opportunity to get involved with some great people at Making for the NHS North of Tyne group
  • having access to a great group of supportive people to talk to – most of us have really needed this – it’s great to know you’re never alone!

One thing that makes your business different from the rest

We like to think that we are different because we really do want to be an integral part of, not just the local business community, but our local community in general too. It’s important to us to offer quality services, performed by the right people, with the right ethos and with our key values in mind. We are all local, all care about where we live, all have families and young children and want to become a trusted name for the right reasons.
