Insight Into…Management Group, Michael James

A web designer and self-confessed James Bond superfan, Michael James is one of the latest members turned management team members at the Forum. We talked to him about his business, his goals and his hopes for the Forum.

What’s your role in the NTBF management team?

My role on the management team is an overarching one. I use my skills and experience to help whenever I can, and I’ll be working closely with local businesses to support and develop them while spreading the word about the North Tyneside Business Forum.

I’m new to the management team and was invited along to one of the meetings by Karen Goldfinch. Once I saw the diverse spread of businesses and personalities involved in the team, and the dedication they showed to improving the business community of North Tyneside, I wanted to be involved.

Tell us a little more about your background

First and foremost, I’m what you’d call a James Bond superfan. I guess this stems from my childhood when I used to watch James Bond movies on the TV at Christmas and that was it – I was hooked. I was fortunate enough to have been involved in part of the production for the new and upcoming movie ‘No Time To Die’ which is due for release this Spring.

From a professional viewpoint, I’m a self-employed web designer, web developer and SEO specialist. I work with other small businesses to get results from their web presence.

Does your role on the team create connections for you in business and indeed in your life outside the Forum?

Networking is a crucial part of working life for most self-employed business owners so I’m always happy to get out, meet new people and hear about their businesses.

Aside from that, I think it’s all about awareness. Once people see that you are actively involved in the group they want to know more about who else is involved if there are any introductions available. I’m passionate about creating connections in our thriving business community so the Management Team gives me a great basis from which to do that.

How do you see the Forum developing in the future?

It’s great to see the Forum bringing local businesses together. Even as a member, I have already collaborated with a few people I probably wouldn’t have met if it hadn’t been for the Forum. As a member of the Management Team, I’d like to see even more localised events where we can bring more local businesses together to network and work collaboratively.
