Silent Disco 4U see demand rocket

A North Tyneside firm has seen demand for its silent disco kit soar as couples across the country battle to save their wedding days.

Silent Disco 4U, based in North Shields, issued more than 4,500 headsets to eager customers in one week alone after the Government extended Covid restrictions to July 19.

When the so-called Freedom Day was pushed back, it meant rules for wedding gatherings would remain in place for a month longer than some couples anticipated, triggering over 300 enquiries on the day restrictions were extended.

With weddings currently unable to have dancing indoors, couples are saving their big day celebrations with outdoor silent discos, to keep spirits high at a socially acceptable distance.

Silent Disco 4U saw an immediate increase in bookings within 24 hours as couples scrambled to save their wedding plans.

Its team is working to meet with demand as the postponed wedding season gets into full swing.

Will Lang, director of Silent Disco 4U, said: “We’re happy to help in whatever way we can to make sure weddings which have been postponed or cancelled again and again can go ahead with some semblance of a party, even if it’s a ‘silent’ one.

“Our headsets have a range of 500 metres and play three different music channels at once so guests can be dancing and listening to whatever they choose without disturbing neighbours in outdoor venues. It’s a great compromise for couples looking to retain a party element and offer something new for guests to try without compromising on safety.

“We’re just happy to see events up and running again and our staff have been run off their feet trying to meet such unprecedented demand over the past few weeks.

“We actually offer both home cinema and silent disco packages and during the past year we’ve seen a real step-change in the type of customers now looking to entertain themselves at home. Silent disco packages in particular are popular for people looking for that fun element to add to birthday parties or celebrations but our home cinema screens are a great option for viewing parties and sporting matches at home.

“The Euro matches in particular have been a real driver for our outdoor home cinema package meaning people nervous of packing into a pub can hold a socially distanced celebration at home.

“It’s a busy time but we’re happy to be working with couples to make sure the party they wanted can still go ahead….albeit with a little silent disco tweaking.”
