North Tyneside businesses in focus on World Photography Day

North Tyneside businesses are being encouraged to let their customers know that their shutters are up and that they are fully open for business by giving maximum exposure to World Photography Day.

World Photography Day is held on Thursday August 19th and celebrates everything connected with the art of photography including the science, history and subjects. The day aims to inspire photographers across the world to share a single photo that shares their world with the rest of the world. The North Tyneside Business Forum however, is bringing the day closer to home by inviting photographers of all abilities from the borough to submit a single photograph of their business at work.

World Photography Day originates from the invention of the daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre. On January 9, 1839 The French Academy of Sciences announced the process and a few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift to the world.

Karen Goldfinch Chair of North Tyneside Business Forum said:

“We’re encouraging businesses to take a single photo and proudly post it on their social media sites using #WorldPhotoDayNTBF so that the whole world can see the depth, vibrancy and passion in our local businesses. We want everyone to know that North Tyneside is open for business and what better way than through the lense of a camera or a mobile device.”

North Tyneside has a number of professional photographers who specialise in a diverse range of photography including weddings, drones, 3D, landscapes, portrait and commercial. One photographer with a unique speciality is Tina Stobbs who runs Captured Forever where she works with young families capturing precious moments in the first few days of a baby’s life.

“I’ll be hoping that a newborn North Tynesider makes an appearance and I’ll post a photograph that will hopefully bounce all around the world. I’m very privileged to be able to take photos of new babies and their families. I think it’s a great idea for businesses big and small to post one photo that shows that they are thriving and open for business,” she said.

Businesses who take part can tag their photos online by using the hashtag #worldphotodayNTBF and then they will be displayed online by North Tyneside Business Forum.

The North Tyneside Business Forum is run by a management group made up of members from various industry sectors in the Borough and gives support in the form of networking, events and signposting for growth and development. Membership is free and open to any business of any size with a trading address within North Tyneside. The Business Forum is supported by, but not run by North Tyneside Council. The Forum is FREE to join and is for any business with a trading address in North Tyneside.
