The winner of #NTBFChristmasCheer is…Bow it Up

Businesses in North Tyneside went all out to decorate their shops, offices and workspaces for Christmas thanks to a competition organised by North Tyneside Business Forum.

The competition was aimed at getting people to feel good about their workspace and encourage customers to visit their premises to see the yuletide displays. Following a public vote, the winning display was created by Laurie Anderson of Bow It Up whose display was located in Kiki’s Kabin in North Shields.

Laurie started Bow it Up in the midst of the pandemic by supplying decorative bows for doors. This led to orders for balloons for parties and events and the business has grown ever since. Her display contains decorative and character balloons and fills a space in the children’s play area where it has been seen by hundreds of families over the past month.

Bow It Up  will receive £500 worth of business consultancy which can be used to benefit the business for services such as strategic business coaching, web design, social media marketing, PR and graphic design.

“I’m delighted to have won the competition and already the social media posts have led to increased traffic on my Facebook Business Page, more likes and new orders. It really will help my new business grow in 2022,” said Laurie.

Karen Goldfinch Chair of North Tyneside Business Forum said: “This has been a very popular competition which over the past few weeks has reached almost 31,000 people on social media. It has done exactly what the Forum wanted it to do – draw attention to businesses on North Tyneside and to send a message that we are all open for business this Christmas.”

Owner of Kiki’s Kabin, John Evans added: “Laurie’s festive design has attracted a lot of attention from our customers young and old and she is a worthy winner.”

The North Tyneside Business Forum is run by a management group made up of members from various industry sectors in the Borough and gives support in the form of networking, events and signposting for growth and development. Membership is free and open to any business of any size with a trading address within North Tyneside. The Business Forum is supported by, but not run by North Tyneside Council.

The Forum is FREE to join and is for any business with a trading address in North Tyneside.
