Tell us a little bit more about your business
I help businesses and homeowners find the best option for their utilities. These include, phone, mobile, gas, electricity and broadband. There are even better options for business customers with their water supplier. I provide a free, no obligation, assessment of their current utility spend and advise then of the best options available. I help manage the switching process and am a contactable link between the customer and their supplier.
What is your motivation for doing what you do?
My background was in construction management but when I was introduced to this business, 15 years ago, I first became a product of the product and then added the utilities business opportunity to help others reduce their utility spend alongside my construction work.
Very quickly I realised that I was providing better value by offering others the chance to save or make money on their utilities and when the opportunity arose I sold off my construction business to concentrate on utility brokering.
What are your plans for the business?
My business will always by just me, however I will continue to introduce others who are interested and help them on their journey to success. I see my business having steady growth over the next 5 years at which point I will evaluate my options.
How has North Tyneside Business Forum helped your business? And what’s your favourite thing about doing business in North Tyneside?
When I first moved to the North East 10 years ago, NTBF was there and has always provided an opportunity to make connections and help build relationships. The best thing I have found with North Tyneside is although it is not insular or isolated it is very connected. It is almost like the 6 degrees of separation in action.
One thing that makes your business different from the rest
There are many utility brokers in the area and ultimately we all have the same product if sometimes packaged slightly differently, so the difference has to be “me”.
