The opportunity to flourish

The opportunity to flourish

We love talking to our members about what they do and how they’ve overcome challenges in business. Plus, we also like to find out why they love North Tyneside as a place to do business. We’ve been chatting to Aaron at Ocean Fit Studio.

Tell us a little more about the business

Ocean Fit is a private training studio located in Whitley Bay. We offer small group training and personal training. In the mix of all this we run early morning beach sessions which is where we started.

We have recently (1 years ago) launched an Online side to the business, Ocean Fit Online. This has allowed us to work with clients far and wide remotely via online platforms. As the studio was always at capacity we were turning people away and was unable to help them. This prompted the launch of this programme.

What challenges has the business overcome to become covid-secure?

It was hard to know that when we closed a lot of people would lose their sanctuary or group fitness and mental well being. A lot of people relied on our services and that was a hard time.

Also the thought that WHAT IF nobody wants to come back and we cant reopen. You have all of these thoughts as a small business owner.

However it has given ocean Fit Online the opportunity too flourish and really establish itself.

How has the business adapted the operation or workplace?

We shut our doors on the eve of March 20th and went straight into Online Training and LIVE Facebook sessions which we have been more than consistent with every day.

I have used the time to totally rip out the studio and put it back in with a few changes to enhance the members workout experience when they return. I hope they appreciate the change and they will benefit from it.

As of recent days Personal trainers and Coaches are now permitted to work with clients 1-2-1 so I have put plans in place to welcome back my face to face clients for Personal Training but it will currently be outdoors and socially distanced.

How has North Tyneside Business Forum helped your business?

One thing I have kept in my head about Covid-19 is that it is not personal and I am not alone in this. Although it can still feel that way.

The Business Forum has kept a tight business community for us all to be a part of, kept the information upon grants regular and relevant and kept us in the loop.

One thing that makes your business different from the rest

We really provide a solid service to our clients and our members are priority. I like to think I go above and beyond to help our members achieve their goals and I always want everybody to feel comfortable.

Also we have such a strong community of members, everybody is such good friends, look after each other and offer each other soooo much support!

It is because of this we have established such a strong reputation within North Tyneside.
