Activate Physiotherapy expands to larger premises

One of North Tyneside’s most respected physiotherapy clinics, Activate Physiotherapy, is expanding to larger premises in the Linskill Centre.

After 5 years at Percy Park RFC, Activate Physiotherapy has relocated to their new home in North Shields to capitalise on the current demand for physiotherapy services in the local area.

The larger premises gives the team of experienced therapists access to increased treatment space, as well as a dedicated gym area and room to utilise a range of diagnostic tools for gait scanning and biomechanical assessment.

Activate Physiotherapy now has three associated clinics in the region, including the new North Shields base at the Linskill Centre, a second clinic in Consett, and a partner clinic based in Newcastle City Centre, Pro Health Physio.

Since launching back in 2014, Activate Physiotherapy, has been dedicated to excellence in the assessment, treatment, and prevention of injuries, offering a broad range of services, including physiotherapy, massage, rehabilitation, orthopaedic, paediatric, core stability, and ergonomics.

SJ Lee, Director and Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, said: “We are thrilled to be moving to the Linskill Centre, which has been at the heart of the North Shields and Tynemouth community for decades. After several happy years at Percy Park RFC, moving gives us the opportunity to make the changes to grow our service, with more room to incorporate equipment and diagnostic tools that can aid us in supporting patient recovery and rehabilitation.”

The move comes after a busy 12 months for Activate Physiotherapy, which has seen increased demand driven by a growth in health issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic. A qualified physiotherapist for more than 19 years, four of which were spent as physiotherapist for Newcastle Falcons, SJ believes that there has been a noticeable change in the volume and nature of health problems in the last 16 months.

He comments: “The last 12 months have been incredibly challenging for people. Repeated lockdowns, remote working and pandemic-related stress have contributed to a range of health concerns. Many of these issues have become worse over time as patients have suffered in silence with problems considered to be ‘non-essential’.

“At Activate Physiotherapy we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety, in line with both government and clinical guidelines. We want people to feel comfortable in their surroundings and confident enough to seek treatment when they need it most.”

The Linskill Centre is a thriving community hub in North Shields offering a range of services and activities for its community, ran alongside the North Tyneside Community Development Trust, and is easily accessible for appointments by car, metro or bus.
