We are connected to many local and regional opportunities to support our businesses to grow in North Tyneside through Responsible Business.

We’ve listed some of the schemes, pledges and organisations which can help your business give back to the local community, develop the skills of your workforce or encourage better working relationships with colleagues.

Apprenticeships

North Tyneside Council is totally committed to apprenticeships. Through the Employment and Skills service, they deliver work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprentices are employed from the outset and receive a wage and support from a training company which is dedicated to their development. Training programmes are normally delivered both in the workplace and supplemented by off the job training away from the employer’s premises.

Good Work Pledge

The North of Tyne Good Work Pledge for businesses in open to all employers in North of Tyne no matter what size.

It recognises those organisations that do the right thing by their people and the simple framework helps others make improvements.

Awards of the Good Work Pledge are available at two levels Standard and Advanced.

Better Health at Work

The Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of employers in the North East and Cumbria in addressing health issues within the workplace. The award scheme is FREE, flexible and open to all employers in the North East and Cumbria, regardless of size, location or type of business. For those organisations who have not considered promoting health at work, taking part in this award will help you reap the rewards of encouraging a healthy workforce.

White Ribbon Accreditation

White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence. As part of our White Ribbon accreditation, we are urging businesses to become White Ribbon UK support organisations and make a difference by raising awareness, encouraging male employees to become positive role models and making sure people know where to find support.

Sector Connector

Sector Connector, managed by VODA and supported by North Tyneside Business Forum, is designed to support businesses to get more involved with their local community in North Tyneside.
