North Tyneside Business Award Winners: LamasaTech

As part of our ongoing launch of this year’s North Tyneside Business Awards, we spoke to LamasaTech, winners of last year’s Innovation Award to find out how being part of the process and winning the award has impacted their business.

Tell us more about your business.

LamasaTech is a world-leading provider of digital kiosks and displays. We are based in North Tyneside and have over 30 members of staff. We were established in 2009, and design engaging, interactive experiences with digital hardware and software solutions. We have a global customer base and serve businesses from a range of industries including retail, military and defence, government and public sector, technology, hospitality and education.

We are very proud to boast internationally renowned clients such as Yamaha Motor Corp, The Houses of Parliament and the Million Dollar Round Table.

In terms of the actual products we provide, our range includes best-in-class video walls, sleek digital window displays, freestanding advertisement kiosks, smart city and self-service kiosks. These eye-catching displays and devices help our customers communicate their branding and messages both internally and externally.

We also offer software solutions that can be paired with our devices. PeakSignage is a cloud-based digital signage platform that allows our customers to control the content on their displays from anywhere via any device with a browser. While our visitor sign-in solution modernises and streamlines the entry process. It also includes up-to-date emergency lists that help our clients to safeguard their employees and visitors during an evacuation as they know exactly who needs to be located.

What award did you win at last year’s awards?

We won the Innovation Award. We were incredibly happy to win this because innovation is at the heart of our strategies. A great example of this is our visitor management system. As the pandemic hit, we identified an opportunity to help businesses remain open and reassure their staff and customers that they were safe. So, we reacted quickly and took our existing sign-in kiosks and modified them to include a temperature scanner and non-touch functionality. This all-in-one temperature-measuring and sign-in solution helped our clients to identify potentially infected individuals by indicating if they had an elevated temperature when attempting to sign in. Not having to touch the screen, a potential hotspot for viruses, further helped reduce the spread of the virus.

The needs of our clients changed again as the pandemic eased, so we developed our sign-in kiosks again. Now we provide a full visitor management system that allows our customers’ visitors, staff and contractors to enter their building quickly. It also allows our clients to monitor who is signed in to their facilities and generate timesheets showing how long each employee or contractor has been signed in, to help with payroll. We’ve also included temperature scanning capabilities, should our clients require that at any time.

Winning the award has been a real honour. Everyone at LamasaTech has worked hard to make the business what it is today, so to have that recognised by the North Tyneside Business Forum was an incredible feeling. We were so proud to see our efforts in the region acknowledged and hope that it encourages more businesses in the area to get involved in the Business Awards.

How has winning the award impacted on your business?

We’re able to show off our award on our website and even in our email signatures. This helps to increase potential customers’ trust when thinking about working on a project with us as they can see we have a history of success and the stamp of approval from the North Tyneside Business Awards. The publicity winning the award brought also helped to spread the word about LamasaTech.

Would you recommend other businesses to put themselves forward for one of the awards?

Absolutely. Not only is it a chance for your business to be recognised for the hard work of all your employees but the awards event itself is a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with all sorts of different businesses from around the region, you could find yourself meeting a new customer or partner.

We’re really thankful for the support from the region’s council, which has provided us with a good foundation to succeed. We also appreciate the guidance from the Local Chamber of Commerce who have helped us to navigate challenges that can occur during day-to-day business activities.
