North Tyneside Business Award Winners: Ride Electric

North Tyneside Business Award Winners: Ride Electric

Now in its 26th year, 2023’s North Tyneside Business Awards are set to be bigger and better than ever. As we prepare to welcome nominations and applications for this year’s awards, we are taking a look at some of last year’s winners.

In this blog, we chat to Ride Electric, winners of the Action on Climate Change Award. Victoria Goff-Cooper tells us about Ride Electric, winning the award and why she would recommend other North Tyneside businesses should consider applying.

Tell us a little bit about your business

Ride Electric is an eBike Experience and Test Centre based at Tynemouth Metro Station. We have been established since 2017 and we also offer eBike sales and daily hires.

We employ six permanent staff members who love working with our customers, delivering our renowned Experience Rides to help anyone thinking of investing in an eBike. We provide in-depth consultations about eBikes and take interested customers out on a guided three-mile ride around the stunning sights of our Tynemouth coastline. These rides give a first-hand understanding of the positive change our customers will experience when moving from traditional pedal bikes to a pedal-assisted solution.

We deal with some of the world’s leading manufacturers, for example, Riese & Muller, offering power and reliability that is second to none.

We are proud of the fact we only use European eBike manufacturers and also only source parts from within Europe. This is all part of our commitment to making sure our impact on climate change, as a business, is as small as possible.

Tell us about the award you won in 2022

We won the ‘Action on Climate Change’ award for all the hard work we have put into the business over the past six years. We are incredibly proud of our business and to have our efforts rewarded by such a large organisation is fantastic. We advocate for the fight against climate change and our tagline is #ridedontdrive because we encourage as many people as possible to use an electric bike as their main (and hopefully only) mode of transport.

Having won the award last year it’s been brilliant to receive loads of comments from our customers about the award. Our profile has been raised as a result and lots of new people have found out about what we do. We spoke with several different businesses during the award ceremony itself who had never heard of us, so getting our name out there has definitely been an advantage of winning the award.

Would you other businesses to put themselves forward for one of the awards?

We would definitely recommend local businesses put themselves forward for this award, as well as all the other awards on offer. They are brilliant, not only for a sense of pride in themselves and their achievements but also for the recognition they get locally, as winners of a prestigious award.

The application process is really simple, the ceremony itself was a lot of fun and the benefits of exposure in the local community has been well worth the effort.
