Keynote Speaker – Laura Middleton, The Office Rocks
Laura Middleton is the Managing Director of The Office Rocks, a Community Marketing Agency based in Sunderland. Established in May 2015 from the playroom of Laura’s home, The Office Rocks boasts an impressive portfolio of online communities and long-standing partnerships with many of the UK’s biggest household names including Nike, Tesco, and Clarks.
After successfully exiting fashion ecommerce brand, What About This which she acquired in 2018, Laura now supports other SMEs with community marketing and ecommerce strategy alongside her role as MD at The Office Rocks.
Guest Speaker – Geoff Phillips, Canvas Marketing
Geoff is the founder of Canvas Marketing and provides freelance strategic marketing support for businesses ambitious to grow or scale. He is a multi-award winning marketer with board level experience across multiple sectors and business sizes having worked with brands such as Sage, Canon and Avery Dennison.
He is passionate about the North East and supports a varied portfolio of businesses based in the region. He actively supports regional talent development as Chair of Governors at Newcastle Sixth Form and co-organiser of The Marketing Meetup Newcastle.
Guest Speaker – Keith Newman, Highlights PR
Keith Newman has run his PR company Highlights PR for 15 years. His office is very unique as it’s a boat based on the River Tyne. Keith has the ability to find a newsworthy story when others can’t and he always gets the maximum media exposure for his clients.
His clients include large utilities, SME’s, charities and people from the entertainment world. As well as press releases and campaigns, Keith runs media training courses and offers crisis management advice when things get tough. When he isn’t as work or sailing his boat he presents a punk rock show on Radio Northumberland and dabbles in antiques at a local market.

Karen Goldfinch has founded two businesses, one of which celebrating its 22nd year in 2023, Made to Treasure, a wedding stationery designer and corporate event management company. Karen Goldfinch – Your Business Pilot, her other company established in 2019 was created so Karen can use her almost 40 years of business skills to help other businesses and organisations to reach their potential.
Specialising in Marketing and Sales, she has a creative mind enabling her to come up with varied solutions for the organisations she works with. She also spends her time coaching clients to identify their goals and helping them to achieve them.
Karen has also Chaired the North Tyneside Business Forum for the last three years, supporting businesses in the area throughout the most difficult trading times and sits on various boards speaking on behalf of the business community and representing them on local and national media including TV and radio.
